Pre-diluted Reference Control Serum RF11

The RF11 Reference Serum can be used for monitoring day-to-day variation in chicken antibody ELISAs. The serum is produced by BioChek (UK) Ltd. The RF11 Reference Serum contains significant and known antibody levels against several major avian pathogens. A Certificate of Analysis is provided, giving target titers and titer ranges for the different assays used.
Contents:
- Each vial contains 5 ml serum in a pre-diluted presentation. Store the vials at 2-8 °C / 36-46 °F until use.
- Instructions for use (this leaflet), including Certificate of Analysis (COA) with target titers.
Precautions:
-The RF11 Reference Serum has been heat treated for 60 minutes at 56 °C / 133 °F to reduce the risk of possible (heat labile) infectious components. For extra safety, take necessary precautions to handle all biological materials as potentially infectious:
- Use calibrated micropipettes and clean or sterile pipette tips for making all serum dilutions.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke in the laboratory. Do not pipette by mouth.
- Do not use serum past its expiration date and do not mix different lot numbers.
Using the RF11 Reference Serum:
- Thoroughly mix the contents of the RF11 control by gently shaking the vial.
- Treat the RF11 Reference Serum in exactly the same way as the positive and the negative controls supplied with the BioChek kit.
- Dispense the required amount of diluted RF11 Reference Serum in selected wells. At least 2 wells per plate should be used.
Evaluating and monitoring results:
- The RF11 titer value obtained can also be compared with the RF11 titer value stated on the Certificate of Analysis for each BioChek ELISA kit lot number.
- When the obtained RF11 titer value is within the expected ranges, one can be confident about quantitative comparability of results with other assays run in the same laboratory and other laboratories.
- Record test results of the RF11 Reference Serum over time.
