The effect of Rovabio® Excel has been tested in different conditions and different types of diets. In all cases, sows were alloted by parity and backfat thickness in order to ensure similar body conditions at trial initiation. No creep feed was applied to any litter at the early stage and cross fostering was done within 24 hours after birth. The litters remained intact until the time of weaning. Sows were fed as close to ad libitum as possible.

In total, six trials were run in different locations, each comparing a group of sows fed a standard diet to another group fed the same diet + Rovabio® Excel. Due to the high variability between animals, differences between control groups and supplemented groups were not always significant. However, when the results of all trials were pooled together and analysed by meta-analysis, the effect of Rovabio® Excel was significant and an average reduction of 3 kg of weight loss was proved.

This lower weight loss can also be seen by measuring backfat thickness on animals.

 The effect of using Rovabio® Excel for supplementation of sows feed is measurable. Its benefits is to strongly limit the weight and backfat thickness losses.
